Meet the People Behind toravianquith

We're financial educators who believe in practical budgeting strategies that actually work in real life. Our diverse backgrounds bring different perspectives to money management, and we're here to share what we've learned along the way.

Our Team

Three professionals who stumbled into financial education from completely different paths. Each of us brings unique experience to help you understand budgeting from angles you might not have considered.

Harlan Thornberry, Senior Financial Educator

Harlan Thornberry

Senior Financial Educator

Harlan spent fifteen years as a construction project manager before discovering he had a talent for explaining complex financial concepts in simple terms. After helping dozens of coworkers create their first real budgets, he made the career switch in 2019.

His approach centers on "building" financial stability the same way you'd construct a house - with a solid foundation first. Harlan specializes in debt management strategies and emergency fund planning, drawing from his experience managing tight project budgets and unexpected costs in construction.

Celeste Moonwright

Behavioral Finance Specialist

Celeste came to financial education through psychology, earning her degree in behavioral economics in 2018. She became fascinated with why people make money decisions that seem irrational on paper but make perfect sense when you understand the emotional context.

She focuses on helping people identify their spending triggers and develop budgeting systems that work with their personality rather than against it. Celeste is particularly skilled at working with people who've tried traditional budgeting methods without success.

Ridge Blackwater

Technology Integration Lead

Ridge worked in software development for a decade before realizing his real passion was teaching people how to use technology to improve their financial lives. He joined toravianquith in 2022 after freelancing as a fintech consultant.

His expertise lies in helping people choose and customize budgeting apps, set up automated savings systems, and use digital tools to track spending patterns. Ridge believes technology should make budgeting easier, not more complicated.

Diverse Experience, Shared Mission

What we've learned from our different backgrounds is that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to budgeting. Construction workers face different financial challenges than software developers. Parents juggle different priorities than single professionals.

  • Real-world budgeting strategies tested across different income levels and life situations
  • Understanding of both the emotional and practical sides of money management
  • Experience with traditional and digital budgeting tools and methods
  • Knowledge of Canadian financial systems, tax implications, and banking options
  • Ongoing education in financial trends, behavioral economics, and money psychology

How We Approach Financial Education

We've all been where you are - staring at spreadsheets that don't make sense, trying budgeting apps that feel overwhelming, or wondering why our spending never seems to match our intentions. That's exactly why we focus on practical, sustainable approaches rather than theoretical perfection.

No Judgment Zone

We've all made financial mistakes. Our role is to help you move forward, not lecture you about the past.

Practical Over Perfect

A budget that works 80% of the time is infinitely better than a perfect system you can't maintain.

Your Life, Your System

We'll teach you principles and tools, then help you adapt them to your specific situation and goals.
